The Kansas City Chiefs turned their franchise around with one simple decision: Drafting Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes drew mixed reviews during the NFL Draft process, as he didn’t find that much success in college, and some even thought he was nothing more than a work in progress.
It didn’t take long before he proved them wrong, leading the team to the AFC Championship Game in his first season as a starter and winning the Super Bowl the next year.
Mahomes has now gotten off to the single greatest start to a career in NFL history, reaching at least the AFC Championship Game every single year, making it to four Super Bowls, and logging a 14-3 postseason record.
With that in mind, most people believe he’s the only player who could legitimately have a chance to take down Tom Brady as the greatest player in NFL history.
However, he knows he still has a long way to go to even enter that conversation.
Talking to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, he admitted that he’s not halfway there yet, and he only strives to be the best player he can possibly be.
“I mean, I’m not even close to halfway, so I haven’t put a lot of thought into it,” Mahomes said. “I mean, your goal is to be the best player that you can be. I know I’m blessed to be around a lot of great players around me.”

Brady retired with seven Super Bowl rings in ten trips to the last game of the campaign.
At this rate, Mahomes is well en route to top him in both categories, as he hasn’t even turned 29 years old yet.
Then again, football is a physical sport, and it also takes a big toll on a player’s mind and emotions, and anything can happen in the future.
But barring a major turn of events or a big injury, there’s no doubt that Mahomes could get it done.
