In the aftermath of another disappointing season in the post-Tom Brady era, the New England Patriots have made some drastic changes, with the team recently parting ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick after 24 years.
With Belichick set to miss the 2024 NFL season after going unhired by teams with head coaching vacancies, the Patriots have made former player Jerod Mayo its new head coach.
Along with overhauling the coaching staff for the first time in over two decades, the team has made some changes to its roster, with the latest being something everyone saw coming after a reunion went sour during the 2024 campaign.
According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Patriots have officially parted ways with cornerback J.C. Jackson, who the team acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers during last season.

As a result of this move by New England, the Patriots have cleared more than $14 million in cap space, which is obviously a step in the right direction for a team that will try to rebuild under Mayo.
After Jackson had a falling out with the team’s brass, he was disciplined by the team, and all signs pointed toward him being released by New England during the NFL offseason.
In the 10 games he played for the Chargers and Patriots during the 2023 campaign, Jackson recorded one interception and 25 solo tackles.
Jackson had his best season in the NFL back in 2021 for the Patriots when he recorded eight interceptions, a defensive touchdown, 23 passes defensed, a forced fumble, and 44 solo tackles.
