The New England Patriots came into the 2023 NFL season with high hopes of turning things around after a forgettable 2022 campaign that had many believing the end of an era was drawing near with legendary head coach Bill Belichick no longer able to right the ship.
Unfortunately for the storied franchise, things have gotten even worse in 2023, with the Patriots looking like one of the worst teams in the league while facing an uncertain future once this season mercifully comes to an end.
Heading into Week 14, which is the team’s bye week, the Patriots have won only three games thus far and might not win another as they head into the final stretch of the regular season.
With some time to lick their wounds and plan for how they hope to contend with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs next week, New England has decided to part ways with versatile running back Ty Montgomery, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.
The Patriots have waived veteran RB/WR Ty Montgomery.

Montgomery played in 13 games during the 2023 campaign before the team waived him on Friday, in which he didn’t really make much of an impact with only three carries for nine rushing yards and five receptions for 40 receiving yards.
Needless to say, Montgomery’s presence on the field wasn’t exactly a game-changer for the Patriots, resulting in another disappointing short stint with an NFL team.
As Montgomery hits waivers, the veteran back has played for five different teams along with the Patriots, including the Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, and New Orleans Saints.
