For years, the NFL MVP award has been a quarterback award.
Players from other positions pretty much cannot aspire to be named MVP anymore, and while that doesn’t seem fair, it’s just the way things go now.
With that in mind, it’s almost impossible to state that Lamar Jackson isn’t going to win his second MVP award this season, even though his numbers weren’t the most impressive.
Nonetheless, NFL analyst Peter King still believes he’s the rightful MVP.
Talking to Cousin Sal for FanDuel TV, King explained that even though Jackson isn’t the best quarterback in the game — Patrick Mahomes still is — Jackson was more valuable to his team this season.
He pointed out the fact that Jackson was “masterful” in the two most crucial games of the campaign, crushing both the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins by completing over 73% of his passes and throwing for seven touchdowns and no interceptions.

Jackson didn’t need to put up the most impressive numbers in the league because he had a strong team and a great supporting cast.
But he stepped up in a big way every single time his team needed him, dominating the strongest contenders and proving to be the best dual-threat QB in the game.
Some believe the MVP is the most impactful player overall, regardless of the stats or the team’s record.
Others believe it should go to the best player overall, while others say it should go to the best player on the best team.
Whatever the case, Jackson is likely going to take home the award this season, and it’s well deserved.
