Things appear to be looking up for the Washington Commanders despite their dismal performance in the second half of the 2023 NFL season.
The Commanders tanked toward the bottom of the standings and own the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Washington got solid play out of quarterback Sam Howell, but he was benched multiple times near the end of the regular season for poor play.
Given the talented group of quarterbacks in this year’s draft class, the Commanders are almost a lock to select one of them to jumpstart the franchise.
For almost the entire year, USC’s Caleb Williams has been touted as the clear-cut best quarterback prospect, though some will argue UNC’s Drake Maye should be taken first overall.
However, there’s a possibility that Williams goes to Washington and is reunited with former offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, via PFF.
“Caleb Williams reuniting with Kliff Kingsbury in Washington?” they tweeted.

Kingsbury was in line to accept the offensive coordinator position with the Las Vegas Raiders, but reportedly withdrew from consideration once contract negotiations broke down.
Part of the reason Kingsbury decided not to go with the Raiders could also be because there’s a chance he gets to work with Williams and the Commanders.
The two were together the past year with the Trojans and made magic on the field with Kingsbury’s quarterback-friendly system.
Joining forces in Washington would be a delight for fans though it’s no guarantee as the Chicago Bears could take Williams if they decide that they’re done with the Justin Fields experience.
