Game 2 of the National League Wild Card round between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins was close up until the sixth inning.
By that time, the Phillies were leading 3-0: they had built a sizable lead, but their victory was by no means a done deal.
With a rally, the Marlins could have easily flipped the score, and they had three more innings to do so with a three-run deficit.
However, Bryson Stott wasn’t about to let the Marlins get close.
The Phillies’ shortstop during their postseason run last year, Stott was seen as one of the true liabilities of that team.
He had a good glove, but his offensive game just wasn’t good enough.
He put in the work during the offseason and spring training and turned himself into a viable starter, now at second base due to Trea Turner’s signing.
With bases loaded in the sixth frame, Stott belted a long grand slam to gift the Phillies a comfy 7-0 lead.
Oh, and he did it during a special time.
“Bryson Stott hitting a first pitch lefty lefty grand slam after the crowd was just singing his walk up song… top 10 piece of content to ever exist,” baseball personality Fuzzy tweeted.

He also did it against a left-handed pitcher, which is much harder if you are a lefty hitter.
Stott increased his power output this year: he went from 10 homers to 15, from 19 doubles to 32, and from a .358 slugging percentage to .419.
He also stole 31 bases and became a key contributor for the Phils.
With his signature home run, it’s now official: he is loved and appreciated by just about all fans in Philly.
