Armed with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders have an opportunity to add a difference-maker on the field.
The Raiders have several needs on the roster that include the offensive and defensive line and secondary.
However, Las Vegas’ biggest question mark comes at quarterback because they’re set to release Jimmy Garoppolo and start Aidan O’Connell.
While O’Connell showed flashes in his rookie year, Las Vegas needs a true franchise-altering talent if they want to get back to competing for Super Bowls.
New head coach Antonio Pierce could use a new signal caller to help his tenure get off on the right foot and several quarterback prospects in this year’s draft could help him get there.
However, it appears that Pierce has one specific player in mind via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
“There’s a feeling that Jayden Daniels, the LSU Heisman Trophy winner, has the eye of Raiders coach Antonio Pierce,” Fowler said.
Daniels and Pierce spent time together at Arizona State and it looks like the latter is hoping for a reunion.
That seems unlikely, though, as Daniels is projected to go in the top-three of the draft which would mean the Raiders would need to send a bounty of picks to move up that high.
At No. 13, Las Vegas might need to settle on the next tier of quarterbacks including J.J. McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr., and Bo Nix.
Either way, the Raiders know they need to upgrade at quarterback if they want to compete and it’ll be interesting to see what happens on draft day.
