It’s not a bad year to be looking for a quarterback heading into the NFL Draft, as the 2024 class is loaded with talent.
Even for teams not picking in the top 5, there are potential franchise guys projected to go either mid-first round or even in the second or third rounds.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Las Vegas Raiders are hosting Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. today on a Top 30 visit.

Rapoport also pointed out that Penix met with the Denver Broncos yesterday, who have the 12th pick in the draft, one spot ahead of the Raiders at 13.
The Raiders cut veteran QB Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason and as of now are rolling with Aidan O’Connell as the QB1, a guy who shined as a rookie but wasn’t quite good enough to convince the Raiders to avoid looking at other potential franchise QBs.
O’Connell completed 62.1 percent of his passes last season for 2,218 yards and 12 touchdowns to go along with seven interceptions.
He thrived down the stretch under interim-turned-permanent head coach Antonio Pierce, throwing eight touchdowns and no interceptions as the Raiders won three of their last four games.
Penix led his Huskies to the National Championship game last season and was a Heisman finalist after putting up 4,903 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions on a 65.4 percent completion percentage.
His draft stock has begun to rise after he ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, which was much faster than many anticipated given his status as a traditional pocket passer.
Penix was originally viewed as a Day 2 pick due to his age, injury history, and being left-handed, but it appears all the QB prospects are moving on up.
