The Baltimore Ravens don’t have a lot of cap space, so they are forced to make some difficult decisions early in free agency such as restructuring Ronnie Stanley’s contract and letting Patrick Queen go to the rival Pittsburgh Steelers.
Recent reports indicate that another move is happening to help clear some much-needed cap space.
The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec has announced that Baltimore is releasing 7-year veteran pass rusher Tyus Bowser to clear over $5 million in additional cap room.

Bowser is a 7-year veteran and has played all those years with the Ravens, including missing all of 2023 with a knee injury.
Bowser only missed one game in his first five seasons but suffered a torn Achilles in the season finale in 2021, which combined with last season’s knee injury has resulted in playing in only nine games over the last two years.
The injuries surely contributed to Bowser being released, and he now hits free agency at 28 years old looking to reestablish his value.
Bowser’s last full season came in 2021, where he posted a career-high seven sacks and 59 tackles.
The move leaves the Ravens with very little depth at the edge rusher position with Jadeveon Clowney and Brent Urban hitting free agency alongside Bowser, so look for Baltimore to use some of this added cap relief to find immediate reinforcements.
The Ravens led the NFL in sacks in 2023 with 60, and they have some work to do to replicate that type of success.
There is still plenty of pass-rushing talent available if the Ravens have someone in mind to replace Bowser.
