The Baltimore Ravens lost more than just a big game on Sunday.
With the Seattle Seahawks hiring Mike Macdonald, they were left without one of the best defensive coordinators in the league.
However, it seems like John Harbaugh was already ready for this situation, as it didn’t take long before his team found a more than suitable replacement.
According to a report by NFL insider Ari Meirov, the Ravens have promoted former linebacker and current ILB coach Zach Orr to be their next defensive coordinator.
The #Ravens have named Zach Orr as their new DC, replacing Mike Macdonald. The former Ravens linebacker who retired early from playing due to a neck injury has been serving as the team’s ILBs coach and has had a fast rise. Just 31 years old, and now the DC in Baltimore. pic.twitter.com/xm19abmwuo

The 31-year-old was also one of the ‘fastest risers’ around the league, drawing interest from the Green Bay Packers to replace Joe Barry and become their next defensive coordinator.
The Packers wound up hiring Jeff Hafley instead, leaving Orr an opportunity to keep climbing the ladder in the Ravens’ organization.
Orr’s career was cut short due to a neck injury.
He was a second-team All-Pro in 2016.
He was later hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars to be their outside linebackers coach in 2021 before making his return to Maryland.
Now, he’ll get an opportunity to keep building around what was arguably the best defensive unit in the league last season, at least according to most metrics.
And while he’s still quite young, he’s going to continue to learn a lot from a savvy veteran and proven winner like John Harbaugh.
