The Baltimore Ravens were viewed as having one of the best offseasons heading into the regular season last year.
They added several key players to their roster, including a marquee free agent wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr.
After seeing this signing go down, fans were excited to see what Beckham could do with Lamar Jackson as his quarterback.
While the Ravens did make it to the AFC Championship, Beckham wasn’t a big part of their team.
Jackson had other targets he preferred throughout the year, which was demonstrated by Beckham’s lack of usage.
Once the front office saw Beckham’s performance in 2023, they decided to cut their losses and release him, as Sarah Ellison has reported on Twitter.
Odell Beckham Jr. was officially released last night with a post-June 1 designation.
It should save $1.2M on the cap this year, but also have $2.8M of dead money this year and $8.3M of dead money next year. https://t.co/cqwPxf2Zfy

This release will have a post-June one designation, announced alongside several other players around the league.
Beckham’s NFL journey has been quite the adventure over the past several years.
He started a successful career with the New York Giants, where he first found fame in the NFL, followed by stints with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams, and now, the Ravens.
It will be interesting to see where he goes next and if another NFL team will take a chance on the veteran receiver with a vast injury history.
For the Ravens, moving on from Beckham allows them to explore other options at the position and hone in on the players they already have on the roster.
Jackson is coming off an MVP season, and he and the rest of the offense will want to build upon that success, continuing to grow together.
