The San Francisco 49ers have found themselves in the news lately with a few trade rumors.
It has been suggested that the 49ers might try to move on from Deebo Samuel, perhaps trying to trade him prior to the draft.
Samuel has been one of the most impactful receivers on this 49ers roster for the past few seasons, and he seemingly has continued to grow his relationship with Brock Purdy in this offense.
While these conversations have seemed to heat up recently, reporter Michael Silver recently indicated that Samuel is staying put.
“Samuel, who signed a three-year, $71.55 million extension before the 2022 season, has been assured by his bosses that he will not be dealt during or after the draft,” Silver said.
“Would the 49ers preemptively trade Samuel or Kittle this week? Don’t expect it to happen. Samuel, who signed a three-year, $71.55 million extension before the 2022 season, has been assured by his bosses that he will not be dealt during or after the draft, according to a source…

This is great news for Purdy and the rest of the 49ers’ offense, assuming this report is true.
The 49ers were able to afford Samuel’s contract due to Purdy still being on his rookie deal, a trend that could continue in 2024 if Purdy’s extension waits another season.
On paper, it doesn’t make sense for the 49ers to trade away any of their marquee players, as their Super Bowl window is still open with limited numbers on the books for their quarterback.
Purdy will need to be paid eventually, but at the moment, the 49ers seem to want to keep their core together as long as possible.
This team has gotten so close to winning the Super Bowl in recent seasons, but they haven’t been able to seal the deal.
Will 2024 be the season the 49ers finally break through and get the job done?
