There is some uncertainty right now surrounding the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers as they prepare for what they hope will be a successful run at a Super Bowl championship this fall and winter.
Star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk wants a lucrative contract extension, but neither side has come to an agreement, which has led to speculation that the team may instead trade him.
More recently, there have been whispers the 49ers may trade fellow wideout Deebo Samuel, perhaps in part to clear salary cap space in order to sign and keep Aiyuk.
Per NBC Sports, Samuel is unlikely to be traded to the New England Patriots or the Buffalo Bills.

The Patriots are on the ground level of a post-Tom Brady rebuilding process, but they could have their next franchise quarterback in Drake Maye, who they took with the No. 3 pick in this year’s NFL draft.
Meanwhile, Buffalo traded away star wide receiver Stefon Diggs and also lost WR2 Gabriel Davis in free agency.
Samuel may not be San Francisco’s most productive wide receiver, but it seems he is their X-factor, both in terms of production and attitude.
Last season, they were less productive offensively without him (he missed two games in October), and he is a unique wideout, as he can line up as a running back and move the chains on jet sweeps on occasion.
If the 49ers want to finally earn their sixth world championship, they will have to find a way to keep their talented offense together, and that starts with both Samuel and Aiyuk.
