The 2023 season wasn’t the kindest to the Cincinnati Bengals.
While there was a lot of optimism surrounding this team, given the success of the prior seasons, they fell short of their goals and didn’t even make the playoffs.
Losing Joe Burrow to multiple injuries played a big part in this, as they didn’t have consistent quarterback play throughout the season.
After seeing the team’s suboptimal record on the year, fans and analysts were both curious to see what moves the Bengals would make during the offseason.
There were bound to be a few additions here and there, but the state of the wide receiver was something that many people were monitoring.
Ja’Marr Chase has yet to be signed to a contract extension, as has Tee Higgins.
Higgins was franchise-tagged at the beginning of the offseason, giving the Bengals extra time to get a new contract together.
That hasn’t happened to this point, and as a result, Higgins has yet to join the team for official activities, as a report from ESPN Bet recently highlighted.
Bengals WR Tee Higgins still has not signed his franchise tender and is not expected to by next week, per source.

This is not a great sign for the Bengals as they start to prepare for the 2024 season.
Burrow is seemingly back and ready to contribute in a meaningful way, but it’s difficult for a team to adequately prepare without all of their top players.
Higgins has been a great WR2 for Burrow to come alongside Chase, but for whatever reason, the front office hasn’t ponied up the cash to keep him on the team for the foreseeable future.
