Had the Philadelphia Eagles not started the 2023 NFL season 10-1, they might’ve missed the postseason entirely.
The reigning NFC champions seemed to break after their blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers as they lost four of their last five games of the regular season.
The Eagles now walk into Wild Card weekend facing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that has enough talent to eliminate them earlier than expected.
It’s hard to imagine Philadelphia getting bounced in the Wild Card, but the team hasn’t inspired much confidence for over a month.
Adding to their woes is they’ll be without AJ Brown who injured his knee in Week 18.
Brown’s absence puts a huge burden on the offense and Jason Dumas believes that he might not even be with the team past this year via his personal Twitter account.
“I don’t think AJ Brown plays another snap for the Eagles,” Dumas said.

It’s quite the statement to make, but Brown voiced his frustrations with the offense amidst all the losing and the team could very well look to offload him if this postseason run goes poorly.
There haven’t been any indications that Brown’s future with the team is in jeopardy, but the general vibe surrounding the organization hasn’t been very positive.
In sports, winning cures everything so if the Eagles manage to get themselves together and go on another deep run then it could bring the locker room back together.
However, that feels like a tall task given how they’ve been playing and Tampa Bay won’t be a walkover.
