The New England Patriots have begun the 2023 NFL Season in less than ideal fashion.
After starting 1-3, the Patriots will need to dig deep if they want to make the playoffs, as they have dug quite the hole for themselves.
Their most recent loss came at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys, losing 38-3 in a blowout game.
Ed Werder recently noted that this was the worst loss in the franchise’s history under Bill Belichick.
The #Cowboys 35-point victory makes the worst loss of Bill Belichick’s HC career.

During the Tom Brady era, coach Belichick was marveled for his prowess, and many believed him to be one of the best coaches in NFL history.
While the wins associated with Belichick and the Patriots might indicate that, this loss does not help his case.
Many pundits and fans are starting to sour on Belichick, wondering if his greatness was solely tied to Brady.
His record with Mac Jones at the helm is not excellent, as he holds a 17-18 record as the Patriots’ starter.
For some organizations, a near-.500 record might be enough, likely seen as a rebuilding period, a sign of what’s to come.
For an organization like the Patriots, however, this loss and Jones’ performance is causing some trepidation in the public eye and within the locker room.
If losses like this continue, more questions will be asked of Belichick and the Patriots.
This team looks significantly different under Jones, and Belichick appears growingly frustrated with this roster.
Can the Patriots come back from this historic loss, hoping to turn their season around and make the postseason?
