The Dallas Cowboys look like a team that has lost it’s way right now.
Not firing Mike McCarthy after suffering arguably the worst loss in franchise postseason history was a big surprise, and Jerry Jones’ approach to the offseason has been, for lack of a better word, disappointing.
The team won’t even extend Dak Prescott’s contract, so they’re now at risk of losing their franchise quarterback in free agency.
On top of that, they’re reportedly looking forward to a reunion with Ezekiel Elliott.
That’s why Cowboys insider Calvin Watkins took to Twitter to call out the front office over this rumor, citing Elliott’s unimpressive production last season, and adding that he understands why Cowboys fans are often upset at the team.
So before I have a cigar for the weekend the Cowboys want to bring back a guy who counts $6 mil in dead money, rushed for career-low 642 yards (he did catch 51 passes) and averaged a lifetime low 3.5 yards per carry. No wonder Cowboys fans are always pissed.

Truth be told, this doesn’t make that much sense.
Elliott wanted to be back in Arlington last season, yet the team claimed that they didn’t want to insult him with a low-ball offer.
Now, he’s one year older and might have even less left in the tank.
The Cowboys let Tony Pollard walk after an unimpressive season, and they didn’t even bother going after any of the many star running backs who were available.
Austin Ekeler, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry, D’Andre Swift, and later even Aaron Jones were all up for grabs, and the Cowboys did nothing.
Elliott is a strong presence in the locker room, but if they expect him to be the guy he was in his first three years in the league at this point in his career, they have another thing coming.
