The Philadelphia Eagles have not looked like a Super Bowl team or even a playoff team as they head into the postseason this year.
They’ve lost five of their past six games, including two consecutive losses to the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.
Philadelphia clinched a playoff berth early thanks in part to their 10-1 start to the season, but haven’t been the same since the team’s 41-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers back in Week 14.
The Eagles will now head to Florida to play the NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but their recent performances haven’t bred much confidence in how they’ll fare in the postseason, says ESPN analyst and former NFL head coach Rex Ryan.
“This team, to me, is in danger of rolling off the cliff,” Ryan said, on “Get Up” Monday morning. “They look like a big boulder right now. And when you roll off the cliff with a big boulder, it doesn’t stop until it hits rock bottom. They’re well on their way.”

Bad defense, inconsistent offense, and injuries have plagued the Eagles since their Week 10 bye, and now they’re in danger of going one-and-done in the playoffs a year after almost winning the Super Bowl.
It’s hard to diagnose what exactly went wrong when most of the offense looks the same, but one of the biggest issues has been coaching on both sides of the ball after offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon both left for head coaching jobs.
Winning cures all, but the Eagles haven’t been doing much of that and will need to quickly rebound in their game on Monday.
