After a brilliant regular season, which resulted in an NFC North division title and the distinction as one of the best teams in the league led by a high-powered offense, the Detroit Lions were able to cruise into the NFL playoffs and impose their will leading up to the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.
In the first half of the NFC Championship Game, Jared Goff and company were in complete control, as they took a 24-7 lead into halftime on the road at Levi’s Stadium in the Bay Area.
Unfortunately, the 49ers proved to be as resilient as ever in the second half, as Brock Purdy and company chipped away at the lead and ultimately got the best of the visiting Lions in order to advance to the Super Bowl.
Even though it was a devastating loss filled with questionable calls made by head coach Dan Campbell and his coaching staff, Detroit still showed it belonged and that the future could be bright for this team moving forward.

“They will be back,” Sherman said.

Sherman is likely on the money with his prediction that the Lions will be back in the playoffs next season and will be a substantial threat to teams in the NFC, as this team has the quarterback, the coaching, and the star players on both sides of the football to stay competitive and improve.
One big boost for the Lions heading into the NFL offseason is that offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has decided to stay on with the team rather than take a head coaching job elsewhere, which is huge for Detroit.
