Once superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, the pressure was immediately put on former first-round pick Zach Wilson to shoulder the load under center for the New York Jets until the four-time NFL MVP could return.
Unfortunately for Wilson, things haven’t gone all that well for him this year, as he failed to be consistent once again and has been a liability under center for the Jets for the majority of the season.
However, there have been times when Wilson shows flashes of brilliance and reminds everyone why the Jets brought him in with such a high pick in the NFL Draft.
One of those moments took place in Week 14, after a lot of speculation was swirling in New York about Wilson’s desire not to resume the role as the team’s starting quarterback.
Despite all the noise, Wilson was able to lead the Jets to victory over the upstart Houston Texans and outshine rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud in the process.
Wilson’s stellar performance against the Texans prompted former NFL star Richard Sherman to sing his praises on Monday via Twitter.

The real question now is whether Wilson can continue to shoulder the load under center and help this Jets squad finish strong with some solid performances in the final four games of the 2023 regular season.
Three out of the final four games will be played on the road for the Jets, starting with the Miami Dolphins in Week 15, followed by the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stadium and the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots away from New York.
