The San Francisco 49ers avoided disaster and survived a major scare.
It’s one thing to lose in the NFC Championship Game, but losing by double digits at home and getting steamrolled by the opposition wasn’t a good look for the most stacked team in the league.
Notably, they never seemed to panic.
They took care of business and went play-by-play to slowly but surely orchestrate a comeback.
And while Dan Campbell’s decisions and the Lions’ subpar execution in the second half left the door open for this comeback, the Niners also deserve all the credit in the world for pulling it off.
With that in mind, former Super Bowl champion Richard Sherman tipped his hat to them.
Talking on Undisputed, he praised them for showing championship mettle and championship pedigree.
“49ers showed championship mettle and championship pedigree,” Sherman said.

He claimed that you didn’t see the players folding, crumbling under pressure, or going at each other; they were just making plays.
Sherman pointed out that they just rallied together and did their job by getting the stops they needed and then taking care of business on offense to score 27 points in a row.
The Niners also had some luck and caught some big breaks, such as Brandon Aiyuk’s miracle 51-yard reception.
Then again, the players and the coaching staff should get their flowers for not collapsing under pressure or walking away from their game plan.
They trusted their ability to get back on track and take care of business, and that confidence paid off.
