There has been plenty of backlash to ‘The Dynasty’ show about the New England Patriots’ extended run as the league’s most dominant franchise over the past 25 years.
Legendary coach Bill Belichick has been a particular target of a lot of that backlash, and one of his best players is speaking out in defense of him.
Four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski went on the Eye On Foxborough podcast and said that “I wouldn’t be where I am right now to this day without Coach Belichick being tough on myself and helping me get to the next level at practice or in a game.”
Rob Gronkowski defends Bill Belichick amid ‘The Dynasty’ backlash:

Gronk added that he would “never, ever, ever change a thing.”
When drafted out of Arizona, Gronkowski didn’t seem like the type of player who fits the “Patriot Way” that fans always hear about.
He was a fun-loving, loud personality, and that showed both on and off the field, which was not typically what the Patriots were about.
Belichick and Tom Brady allowed him to be himself and they got the best version of him every week, as Gronk quickly became perhaps the most dominant tight end the league has ever seen both as a blocker and a receiver.
As personable as he was, he never took shots at his teammates, the fans, or his coaches.
It was always clear how much of a positive impact Belichick had on him, and it’s great to hear him standing up for his long-time coach amid all the negativity that has come out following the show.
