The New England Patriots are heading into a tumultuous offseason after the team’s worst season in the Bill Belichick era.
Despite Belichick’s success during his long tenure in New England, there’s no guarantee Patriots owner Robert Kraft will keep him on as head coach for another year.
Rumors about Belichick’s landing spot in 2024 have swirled for weeks, but former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski told Kay Adams on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” show that Belichick’s standing in New England as well as how he’s coached despite a bad season could save his job.
“He has too much of a base and origin with the New England Patriots where I just feel like it would just be a little unsettling if he goes to another team. But the thing is, he’s still showing a fight, it’s not like he’s giving up,” Gronkowski said.

The Patriots will likely finish the year with a top-five draft pick as well, meaning Belichick could usher in a new era for the Patriots if he remains with the team.
But it’s hard to overlook how bad Belichick’s team has been after Tom Brady left in 2020 with just one winning season and one playoff berth in four years.
Kraft may want to go in a different direction and with a whole new coaching staff.
Belichick also has trade value for another franchise that may want an experienced coach to run their team.
This offseason could be one of the biggest in Kraft’s time as owner of the Patriots.
