The legendary history of the now-Washington Commanders has seen a lot of great players.
More specifically, there have been some great running backs throughout the team’s history.
Former Washington Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III recently shared his thoughts on his YouTube channel about who he thinks the most underappreciated running back in the history of the franchise is.
“I still feel to this day that Alfred Morris is one of the most underappreciated running backs in Washington Commanders history…I never felt like he got his due,” Griffin stated.

The former Heisman Trophy winner makes a really good point.
The former sixth-round pick in Morris was a superstar at the beginning of his career, and everyone forgets that.
He rushed for nearly 4,000 yards over his first three seasons in Washington.
The two-time Pro-Bowler, along with Griffin, made the Commanders one of the best rushing teams in the entire National Football League.
If not for him, Mike Shanahan’s team doesn’t win the NFC East in 2012.
He also didn’t miss a single game during his four-year career in Washington.
After a down 2015 season that saw him rush for less than 800 rushing yards for the first time in his career, Washington chose not to re-sign him.
He would go on to bounce around between the Cowboys, 49ers, Cardinals, and Giants over the next five years.
Washington would go on to miss the playoffs each of the next four years.
If they could go back, perhaps they’d reconsider the idea of giving him a new deal after the 2014 season.
Perhaps their fortunes as a franchise don’t go into a downward spiral if they re-sign him.
