The Washington Commanders are in line to reset their franchise in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft as they hold the No. 2 overall pick after a dismal 2023 NFL season.
The Commanders cleaned house in the offseason and appear ready to rebuild after years of mediocrity under the previous regime.
Washington finds itself in a similar position as it did over a decade ago when they landed the No. 2 overall pick in a blockbuster deal with the then-St. Louis Rams.
The Commanders traded up to select Robert Griffin III, a tantalizing dual-threat quarterback who was widely perceived to be the second-best player at the position behind Andrew Luck.
Griffin had an outstanding rookie season in Washington but was forced to undergo knee surgery after hurting it in the team’s Wild Card loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
The former Pro Bowler recently revealed that coming back from injury so soon is the biggest regret he has about his football career via his personal Twitter account.
“The biggest regret of my career was playing in 2013. After my injury in the playoffs against the Seahawks, I was All in for Week 1 because I wanted to be out there with my teammates. Every player when given the option to fight or flight chooses to fight,” Griffin tweeted.

Too often, star players are eager to get back to playing that they end up causing more harm than good to their bodies.
In Griffin’s case, had he decided to take more time off to properly rehab he likely would’ve been able to play longer and be more effective.
