The New York Jets suffered another embarrassing loss in Week 15 as they failed to score against the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins played the game without star Tyreek Hill who is dealing with an ankle injury, but it didn’t matter as the Jets’ defense couldn’t overcome the offense’s ineptitude.
Zach Wilson lost a fumble in the first quarter and was later benched for Trevor Siemian right before the end of the first half.
Siemian didn’t fare any better than Wilson as he recorded just 110 passing yards and was picked off twice during the afternoon.
The backup quarterback position needs a real option in 2024, and the Jets will need to canvas the free agency market or the draft to address it.
Robert Griffin III was appalled at what he saw and believes Cam Newton should still be in the league given the state of backup quarterbacks via his personal Twitter account.
“It’s an ABSOLUTE TRAVESTY that Trevor Siemian is playing in the NFL and Cam Newton isn’t,” Griffin tweeted.

Newton recently raised eyebrows when he called out several of today’s starting quarterbacks, and it feels like he could’ve made the same comments about the backups currently on rosters.
Although Newton hasn’t been on a roster in a couple of seasons, some have to wonder whether or not he would play better than some of the options teams have been trotting out.
New York should be ashamed of themselves for the product they’re throwing out there, so hopefully they figure things out in the coming months.
