The Washington Commanders hit what some would call “rock bottom” on Thursday.
Facing the division-rival Dallas Cowboys, the Commanders lost, 45-10, in an embarrassing effort on national TV.
When teams get embarrassed for the whole world to see, that usually leads to someone losing their job.
That happened to be the case in Washington as they fired defense coordinator Jack Del Rio and defensive backs coach Brett Vieselmeyer.
After giving up 38 points to the Dallas offense, these moves were not shocking.
But, head coach Ron Rivera might be the next one to go if things do not turn around soon.
Rivera is looking to be more hands-on over the remainder of the season.
According to Nicki Jhabvala, Rivera’s focus will be on the defense going forward.
Ron Rivera’s focus will be on defense going forward. Said he won’t have much time to deal with the offense now.

This should not be a major surprise as Rivera is a defensive-minded coach.
Many times throughout his career he has led strong defenses.
Yet, that has not been the case this year in Washington.
It will be interesting to see if he can improve that unit over the last five games.
That may be the only thing to save his job.
The Commanders have Eric Bieniemy as their offensive coordinator.
Rivera must feel strongly that Bieniemy can handle that side of the ball as he takes over some responsibility on defense.
Either way, this Commanders team is not in contention this year.
Over the final month of the season, the Commanders’ new ownership group will have to decide if Rivera is worth keeping.
