The Washington Commanders have been stuck in a bad place for quite a while now.
HC Ron Rivera was supposed to work his magic and turn them into a contender like he did with the Carolina Panthers, but the years have gone by and that hasn’t been the case thus far.
Rivera reportedly entered the season on the hot seat, and after watching his team struggle mightily this season, most people think he’s walking on thin ice right now.
However, when asked about his job security, the veteran coach claimed that he’s not worried at all and he’s only going to keep doing his job as he’s done all this time (via Dov Kleiman).

The Commanders lost 45-10 to Dallas on Thanksgiving yesterday.

Some believe the Commanders hired Eric Bieniemy as an insurance policy, stating that he could take over for Rivera mid-season or shortly after if things didn’t go their way.
The Commanders offense hasn’t been proficient this season, so they could be having second thoughts about that.
Whatever the case, this team just changed owners, and Magic Johnson isn’t known for being patient or sitting on his laurels while things figure themselves out.
They’re going to be making moves, making calls, and exploring every single one of their options, and Rivera hasn’t given them enough reasons to make them think he’s the right guy to lead this turnaround.
In all honesty, it’s hard to envision him coaching the team next season, barring a shocking turn of events or the Commanders winning out the season, which seems less than likely.
