Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. won his first National League MVP award on Thursday night.
Despite Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers completing marvelous seasons, Acuna won the award by virtue of his .337 batting average, 149 runs scored, 41 home runs, and 73 stolen bases.
No player in MLB history had posted a 40-50 season, let alone a 40-70 one.
Instead of recording a video of being elected as the winner of the award while sitting with his couch with his family, he celebrated doing what he does best: hitting home runs.
“Homering hours after being named unanimous MVP?! Amazing, Acuña Of COURSE. Baseball is the best!!!” MLB stats expert Sarah Langs tweeted.

As it turns out, Acuna was making his debut in the Venezuelan Winter League with the Tiburones de La Guaira.
Playing against Tigres de Aragua, the dynamic outfielder hit a long drive to right field that left the yard for a home run in his debut.
Many MLB stars don’t play winter ball at all, or report in December to have a chance to get some extended rest after a long season.
Acuna, however, is built different.
He took a few weeks after the Braves were eliminated in the postseason, and then got to work to play for Tiburones, his beloved Venezuelan team.
Acuna will turn 26 in December, and he already has a World Series title, an MVP, and lots of other awards.
He is well on his way to becoming a Braves legend and one of the best players ever to come out of Venezuela.
