The NFL truly does stand for “not for long,” as job security for both players and coaches is fleeting and you’re never more than one bad year away from fans and front offices to start heating that seat up and thinking about replacements.
Former player and current analyst Ryan Clark is already forecasting a hot seat for one head coach who he thinks could be in jeopardy of losing their job next season.
Clark discussed the Pittsburgh Steelers’ tough schedule on Get Up recently and mentioned how tough the team’s last eight games are, with six games against their AFC North division, and the other two games being at the Philadelphia Eagles and against the Kansas City Chiefs, which has him wondering how secure head coach Mike Tomlin’s job is, as “At some point, 9-8 isn’t going to be good enough.”

Clark said on ESPN Radio that the second half of the season could raise some tough questions in Pittsburgh, and even though Tomlin has begun his career by going 17 straight seasons without a losing record, expectations are heightened following the Russell Wilson acquisition.
It’s a questionable quarterback to hitch your wagon to, as Wilson is coming off a brutal couple of seasons with the Denver Broncos.
Pittsburgh ended last season on a 3-game winning streak to get to 10-7 and earn a playoff bid, where they got crushed by the Buffalo Bills.
The quarterback situation was in major need of an overhaul, and the team shook things up by letting Mason Rudolph leave for the Tennessee Titans in free agency and trading Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles.
