Last year, the Houston Texans were determined to right the ship.
The struggling franchise selected Ohio State star quarterback C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 overall pick and then traded up to No. 3 to bring in defensive end Will Anderson Jr.
Although no one expected instant success after these bold moves during the 2023 NFL Draft, the Texans defied the odds and officially became a force to be reckoned with in the AFC, going on to win the AFC South division title and pull off the upset over the Cleveland Browns in the NFL playoffs.
Despite their season coming to an end at the hands of the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs, Stroud and company far exceeded expectations, and as a result of that, the team was even more aggressive this offseason to improve the roster and make the best of his window of success.
The Texans brought in running back Joe Mixon, veteran defensive end Danielle Hunter, and superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs, which has potentially thrust Houston into the title-contending conversation heading into the 2024 NFL season.
ESPN’s Ryan Clark makes a case for the Texans making an even “bigger splash” this year compared to the breakout season last year, via NFL on ESPN.
“This team is poised to make a bigger splash this year than they did last,” Clark said.

Although the Texans have made some drastic moves in the right direction during this NFL offseason, Houston will be under tremendous pressure next season to live up to expectations and be a legitimate force to be reckoned with again.
It remains to be seen whether the team can live up to expectations, but this team will go as far as Stroud takes them.
