The Denver Broncos have made a lot of rough decisions ever since the retirement of legendary quarterback Peyton Manning.
They’ve gone through a handful of quarterbacks and multiple head coaches since they won the Super Bowl in 2015.
Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf was on Up & Adams recently to chat about the way the Broncos have been run in recent years.
“They’ve just made mistake after mistake. I don’t know how the general manager continues to have a job,” Leaf said.

GM George Paton took over the position in 2021.
Since then, the team has had three consecutive seasons with a record below .500.
He has hired multiple head coaches and brought in multiple quarterbacks.
Former head coach Nathaniel Hackett and quarterback Russell Wilson were brought in after Paton was hired.
Hackett was fired after a miserable first season and Wilson was let go after two seasons earlier this offseason.
Super Bowl-winning head coach Sean Payton was hired in 2023 and this offseason, Denver traded for veteran quarterback Zach Wilson and drafted former Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year Bo Nix out of Oregon with the No. 12 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Time is certainly ticking on Paton’s time in Denver.
This team needs to start winning.
If they don’t, the Walton-Penner Ownership Group will be forced to make a big decision.
Either they will fire Paton or the head coach.
It would be a stunner if they fired both, and Paton would have a disadvantage considering he has never been a part of a Super Bowl team.
