With five regular-season games left to play and a potential trip to the NFL playoffs on the line, the New Orleans Saints will need to play their best football during the final month of the season in order to be playoff-bound.
After five losses in their last seven games and three losses in a row, things aren’t going the way the Saints had hoped, as their chances of making a playoff push are starting to dwindle.
Fortunately for New Orleans, it appears that star quarterback Derek Carr has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol but will remain questionable for Sunday’s game against the division-rival Carolina Panthers, according to John Hendrix of Saints News Network.

Even though Carr hasn’t had a stellar first season with the Saints, he still arguably gives the team the best chance to win when he’s under center and leading the charge for the team on offense.
If Carr is unable to take the field in Week 14 against the Panthers, the Saints will likely turn to either Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill to help shoulder the load at the quarterback position.
With the Panthers being one of the worst teams in the league right now, if not the worst team in the league, New Orleans will likely be able to get by without Carr for this divisional showdown at Caesars Superdome in the Big Easy.
In 12 games played for the Saints this season, Carr has thrown for 2,761 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions, which obviously aren’t great numbers for a starting quarterback in the NFL.
