Over the last couple of years, tensions seemed to be high between the New York Giants and superstar running back Saquon Barkley, as he wanted to be paid what he’s worth, and the team seemed content with letting him walk in NFL free agency this year.
Although it seemed like Barkley was headed to the Houston Texans to join forces with up-and-coming quarterback C.J. Stroud, the veteran back chose to pivot at the last second and agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, which was basically a slap in the face to the Giants, signing with their bitter division rival.
Although it was a surprising move by Barkley, to say the least, it was a pretty smart one as well, as his presence in the backfield in Philadelphia could make the Eagles the most stacked offense in the NFL heading into the 2024 campaign in September.
Along with Barkley, the Eagles have stars all over the field on the offensive side of the football, with Jalen Hurts leading the charge under center and a talented receiving corps led by A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Parris Campbell, and Dallas Goedert.
Barkley recently talked about his new teammates on offense while at OTAs, via Eliot Shorr-Parks.
“You get a huddle Day 1, and it’s A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Jalen Hurts…Not a bad group,” Barkley said.

Even though Barkley has battled injuries during his NFL career, the veteran back doesn’t have to be the focal point of the offense in Philadelphia, which makes the team dynamic and unpredictable on that side of the football.
Only time will tell if the new-look Eagles become a dominant force once again in the NFC, but so far, the team is looking very good on paper.
