For the second consecutive year, the Denver Broncos have been the most disappointing team in the league.
Sean Payton vowed to turn the culture around and even took some big shots at Nathaniel Hackett upon his arrival in Mile High, but that hasn’t been the case thus far.
Russell Wilson has bounced back, and the offense hasn’t been the problem this time.
Ironically, Vance Joseph’s defense has been their biggest issue this season, which is kind of shocking, considering their defense ranked among the best last year and was the only thing that kept them in contention more often than not.
Looking back to their issues this year, Payton admitted that most of the blame should fall on his shoulders and that he needs to do a better job of getting his team ready to play:
“I’ve got to do a better job. It starts with me,” Payton said, per ProFootballTalk. “The part that I’m frustrated with myself is that we became one-dimensional, and I know better. So I have to be more patient relative to how we run the ball.”

Truth be told, it’s hard to explain what’s going on with the team.
Their roster is very solid on both ends of the field, at least on paper, yet they can’t seem to figure out a way to win.
Their only win of the season came thanks to a late-game epic comeback vs. the Chicago Bears, a team that had lost 13 straight games dating back to last season before that.
The Broncos are 1-4 after five weeks and will now face a tough divisional test when they play the reigning Super Bowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs.
A loss on Sunday would pretty much end their season.
