The Denver Broncos will look much different in 2024 than in 2023.
One of the most obvious differences is at the quarterback position, as the team has moved on from Russell Wilson.
Wilson was initially brought in to help turn the team around, but in his two years as their starter, the team could not gain any traction under him.
Now, they are forced to go back to the drawing board at the position.
Some have indicated that the team will target a less expensive free-agent option, while others have suggested they could go after someone in the draft.
Ian Rapoport met with Sean Payton at the AFC Coaches Breakfast and asked him about the team’s draft strategy.
When asking the Broncos coach about the team trading up in the draft, Payton called it a “realistic” possibility.
Here at the AFC Coaches Breakfast, I asked #Broncos coach Sean Payton how realistic it was for him to be a potential trade-up team?
“Realistic.”
He said they’ll look at it, and noted, “It’s good to be Monti (Ossenfort) right now.” Hard to know what it will cost eventually…

The Broncos currently hold the No. 12 overall pick in the draft.
If they stay there, they could still get a quarterback, but if other teams trade up, they might be down to their fourth, fifth, or sixth option.
However, trading up could get them a player like J.J. McCarthy, who has skyrocketed up draft boards over the last several weeks.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, both for the Broncos and other teams across the league.
Many teams have been rumored to trade up, which gives teams in the top six picks a marked advantage, hoping to get teams like the Broncos to pay a king’s ransom to try and acquire their quarterback of the future.
