The Denver Broncos got their new quarterback, and it’s not Zach Wilson.
Sean Payton and his brass raved about getting the chance to land Bo Nix, going as far as to leak false information about their alleged desire to go after J.J. McCarthy instead.
So far, so good for their new gunslinger.
Nix has drawn rave reviews from the offseason program, but it’s not like Coach Payton didn’t expect any of the things he’s seen from his prized rookie.
If anything, the only thing that stood out for him was the fact that he was much bigger than he thought, according to a report by Dov Kleiman.
“The only thing I can think about that was a little bit of a surprise was when we went to work him out privately and stood around him, he was bigger than I expected. But nothing in the last two days. He’s doing well,” Payton said.

Analysts believe Nix is tailor-made for Sean Payton’s system, and that might be the case.
Also, with all the experience he had as a five-year player in college, he’s got an NFL-ready body, and he looks like the kind of player who could make an impact from day one.
The Broncos’ QB room also consists of Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham, but none of them seem to pose a legitimate threat to take the reins of the offense from Nix.
Then again, Wilson kept finding his way to the field due to multiple injuries, so one will never know.
Hopefully, that won’t be the case in Mile High, and Nix will finally put an end to their years-long pursuit of a QB1.
