The Indianapolis Colts may have found a generational talent at the quarterback position.
In limited playing time, Anthony Richardson proved to be the real deal and a special dual-threat kind of prospect.
Nonetheless, with him missing most of his rookie season with two different ailments — including a season-ending shoulder injury — there are also some concerns about his durability.
That’s why some fans and analysts sounded the alarms when he didn’t practice today.
Talking to the media, HC Shane Steichen confirmed that Richardson was experiencing some soreness in his shoulder (via Stephen Holder).
Colts HC Shane Steichen says Anthony Richardson had “some soreness” in his shoulder and didn’t throw today as a result.
Insisted “he’s fine” and added “rest assured, he’d be playing Sunday if we had a game.”

He also said that it was nothing serious and that he would definitely play if they had a game on Sunday.
The Colts are right by taking a long-term approach and being extremely cautious with their prized youngster.
Shoulder injuries can tend to be tricky, and they can’t afford to have him miss games early.
Richardson recently stated that he wouldn’t change his uber-aggressive and physical style of play, as he could’ve gotten hurt regardless.
He thinks there was nothing he could’ve done to avoid the unfortunate injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
That might be true to a degree, as football is a physical sport and injuries happen every single day.
Still, part of being a good quarterback is protecting yourself as much as you protect the football, and this isn’t the way you want to get your career started, especially after not having that much experience as a starter in college either.
