One impressive thing about Major League Baseball is the number of massive contracts.
Each offseason we see teams shoveling over millions of dollars to players.
But, we may never see a contract like the one that Shohei Ohtani signed.
Ohtani is a two-way superstar who can dominate both at the plate and on the mound.
That is why the Los Angeles Dodgers were comfortable giving him $700 million over 10 years to play for them.
According to FOX Sports: MLB, Ohtani’s contract is worth $273.5 million more than any other.

But it makes sense because Ohtani got paid as both a hitter and pitcher.
It would be surprising if any player surpasses Ohtani’s contact in MLB history.
The $700 million range should be for elite two-way players.
The chances we ever see a player like Ohtani again are slim to none.
What is interesting about that list is the two Dodgers players are in the top three.
The Dodgers’ payroll is outlandish with Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman.
But that is nothing new as the Dodgers consistently have one of the highest payrolls in the sport.
Outside of the 60-game season in 2020, the Dodgers have not won a World Series since 1988.
Also, they have been knocked out in the NLDS in back-to-back seasons.
Ohtani is just the player they needed to get over the hump.
Even though Ohtani cannot pitch next season, he will still be able to DH.
Having Ohtani in this lineup should be plenty to get the Dodgers back to the World Series.
