While Shohei Ohtani remains at the center of the storm because of his former interpreter’s legal issues (which involved stealing $16 million from the Los Angeles Dodgers star’s account), he continues to diligently go to the park and perform to the top of his abilities.
Despite the controversy, the suspicions, and the accusations by many fans (even after the federal authorities determined he is a victim), he still has a job to do with the Dodgers.
And he is the best at what he does.
It might be easy to forget, in the middle of the scandal, that Ohtani is such a gifted baseball player.
And he really is: not only gifted, but also unique.
He has accumulated an incredible 12 extra-base hits in 15 games with his new team.
That’s a franchise record, per MLB stats expert Sarah Langs.
“Shohei Ohtani’s 12 extra-base hits are the most by a player in his first 15 games with the Dodgers (since at least 1901),” she tweeted.

So far, Ohtani has eight doubles, a triple, and three home runs.
He is also slashing .333/.377/.635 with a 1.012 OPS.
He has also scored 12 runs and has 21 hits.
It’s remarkable that more than half of those 21 hits (12 in this case) have gone for extra bases.
His power is amazing, and he is already helping the Dodgers in a big way.
They have the best record in the NL West at 10-5, and there is no reason to think that will change anytime soon.
