Two-time AL MVP Shohei Ohtani carefully weighed his options for weeks.
He had to decide where to sign his next contract, the biggest in American sports history.
In the end, he opted to stay in LA.
Not with the Angels, though: he signed a 10-year, $700 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He will slot in nicely in a lineup that has fellow former MVPs Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, plus Max Muncy, Jason Heyward, Will Smith, Max Muncy, Chris Taylor, James Outman, and more.
He won’t pitch in 2024 due to an elbow injury, but will have plenty of time in his contract to get healthy and contribute from the mound, too.
From there, he had a 3.14 ERA and 167 strikeouts in 2023.
One of the reasons behind Ohtani’s decision to sign with the Dodgers was that they put him in an excellent position to compete and win.
Winning is all that matters to Ohtani.
He shared a message with Dodgers fans: a joint dream.

“I can say 100 percent that you, the Dodger organization and I share the same goal: to bring World Series parades to the streets of Los Angeles”, he said, via MLB on Twitter.
Well, if that’s not music to fans’ ears, we don’t know what is.
The team is investing a significant amount of money in Ohtani, so they would love for him to help them get over the hump, too.
We don’t know if they will win one or multiple World Series with Ohtani, but we do know that lineup is looking very, very scary for pitchers.
