No matter how you slice it, Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani makes a lot of money and makes money for other people, too.
He is a marketing darling and a historically relevant figure in baseball, so yes: people are continually and perennially interested in him.
He has the highest salary in baseball at $70 million per season on average, but he is also returning some of that money to the Dodgers with his performance and off the field, too, in merchandise sales.
He is so big that even his bobbleheads are extremely valuable, much more than any other player in the league.
Take a look at this.
“What is Shohei Ohtani’s first Dodgers bobblehead selling for on the secondary market? Take a quick peek at eBay,” The Athletic MLB tweeted, with a picture of the item in question and some of the prices it is selling for on eBay.

Most of the bobbleheads are in the $280-$300 price range, but a rare gray road jersey bobblehead from the stadium giveaway this week is being offered at $1,000.
In any case, the prices are jaw-dropping for a single piece of memorabilia.
Of course, not everybody gets to own a cool Ohtani-related item, and the high demand can explain the high prices.
The two-time MVP award winner is having another incredible season at the plate.
He is slashing .360/.430/.669 with 16 doubles, 12 home runs, 11 stolen bases, and a 1.099 OPS.
If he keeps up that pace, he could finish with the best season of his career and that’s saying a lot.
He is a uniquely special player.
