Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless is an unabashed Dallas Cowboys fan, but even he wasn’t sure if his team should have won Saturday night’s game.
Detroit scored late in the fourth quarter to draw within one point, but the Lions were called for an illegal touching penalty on the two-point try after the officials didn’t register offensive lineman Taylor Decker as an eligible receiver before the play.
The Lions failed to convert on their next try, and the Cowboys secured the 20-19 win.
While Bayless said he was excited about the outcome of the game, he acknowledged that the Lions likely should have won.
“I thought Detroit would win this game … and Detroit should have won this game,” Bayless said. “And I’m not still convinced about the call at the end that saved us from losing by a point. … It sure looks like to me that both linemen were trying to report.”

The outcome of this game could have serious ramifications on the NFC playoffs spot depending on how the rest of the schedule shakes out.
Detroit had a shot at the No. 1 seed in the conference if they won this game and if the San Francisco 49ers lost at least one of their final two games.
But now, the Lions are basically locked into the No. 3 seed unless the Cowboys, 49ers, and Philadelphia Eagles all lose out.
The Cowboys have a shot at winning the NFC East and the No. 1 seed if they win next week, but will need the Eagles to lose at least one of their next two games and the 49ers to lose out.
