The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have finally found a replacement for Dave Canales.
Canales left to become the head coach of divisional rival Carolina Panthers, and they’ve now hired Liam Coen to take the reins as offensive coordinator.
With that in mind, Skip Bayless took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the matter, claiming that he’s a perfect offensive coordinator for Baker Mayfield.
“Liam Coen is the perfect choice for Baker Mayfield,” Bayless said.

This is actually a fair assessment, as he has plenty of experience with Sean McVay’s system.
He was an assistant wide receivers coach, then an assistant quarterbacks coach, and then offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
His system is pretty similar to the one Canales used in Tampa.
This will give the offense a seamless fit and feel of continuity, which is great news for Mayfield, who’s coming off the best season of his career.
The former No. 1 pick is widely expected to fetch a very lucrative deal to stay in Florida, and his hire only makes it all the more evident, as it’s become loud and clear that the Bucs believe Mayfield is the right guy for their future and they want to make sure he’s as comfortable as possible.
