Most people consider Bill Belichick to be the greatest coach in NFL history.
That’s valid, and he definitely has the credentials to back up that claim.
Nonetheless, as solid as his résumé is, it seems like he’s losing some ground or pull around the league.
Half of the head coaching vacancies have already been filled, and the only team even slightly interested in his services — the Atlanta Falcons — are also interviewing more candidates.
That’s not much of a surprise for Skip Bayless.
“Belichick was a glorified defensive coordinator,” Bayless said.

Talking on Undisputed, the controversial pundit shared one of his hottest takes yet, defying the notion that Belichick is the best to ever do it.
He talked about Belichick being 21 games under .500 without Tom Brady under center.
Bayless went as far as to call him a ‘glorified defensive coordinator’ who ran the defense while Brady took the team to where it needed to go.
Perhaps there’s some truth to what he’s saying, but that’s also a bit of a stretch.
Numbers don’t lie, and the fact of the matter is that his numbers without Brady have always been mediocre at best.
Then again, it’s impossible to take anything away from a guy who’s won so much in this league and who hasn’t been outcoached once in his career that people could think of.
Still, Bayless did admit that he’s the greatest defensive mind the game has ever seen, so it wasn’t all negative.
