The German football giants, Bayern Munich, have provided an update on the status of their Vice-captain, Joshua Kimmich, after he sustained an injury during their recent match against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Munich-based outfit clinched a 4-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, further strengthening their position at the zenith of the Bundesliga leaderboard with an eight-point advantage.
This victory marks their fifth match in a mere span of 17 days, a gruelling schedule that has kept head coach Vincent Kompany and his squad on their toes. In professional football, injuries are an anticipated part of the game, and the latest player to fall victim to this inevitability is none other than Joshua Kimmich.
Kimmich, who plays a significant role in the midfield, had to be replaced in the 43rd minute of the match against Eintracht Frankfurt. Bayern Munich has since issued a statement, shedding light on the severity of Kimmich’s injury. The club confirmed that Kimmich is suffering from tendonitis in his left hamstring.
Fortunately, the injury is not expected to sideline the 30-year-old player for a prolonged period. However, Kimmich may need to sit out the upcoming match against VfB Stuttgart on February 28, allowing him ample rest and recovery time. The decision to rest Kimmich may also affect the team’s strategy for their subsequent match against Bayer Leverkusen, which forms the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 game.
Kompany, who himself has a history of injuries during his playing days, seemed to take the news of Kimmich’s injury in his stride. He light-heartedly compared Kimmich’s situation to his own, stating, “Whenever I pulled something, I was out for 4 or 5 weeks!”
In addition to Kimmich, Jamal Musiala also suffered an injury towards the end of the game. However, the club has assured fans that Musiala’s injury is not serious.
