Chelsea FC is reportedly taking steps to secure the services of Sunderland’s emerging talent, Jobe Bellingham, according to recent sports news. The Blues have established a pattern of investing in burgeoning talent as a part of their strategic planning for the future. Consequently, Bellingham, a promising 19-year-old midfielder, has been identified as a key resource to strengthen the team’s midfield under the guidance of Enzo Maresca.
Bellingham, the younger sibling of Jude Bellingham, a prominent player with Real Madrid, had previously expressed a desire to move abroad. However, the recent proposal from Chelsea has seemingly swayed his decision. Bellingham’s contract with Sunderland extends until 2028, which gives the Championship team a strong bargaining chip. Yet, it remains uncertain whether Bellingham would consider a move to Chelsea, located in west London.
FootballTransfers had earlier reported that Sunderland has a gentleman’s agreement, which permits Bellingham to exit the team this summer if an appropriate offer is presented. The speculated value of this offer is around £20 million. Unlike his brother Jude, who plays as a No.10 for Real Madrid, Jobe Bellingham performs more as a traditional box-to-box midfielder.
Furthermore, Chelsea is also reportedly eyeing Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United. Chelsea’s budget might be constrained this summer, and they are keen to offload some of their squad members who are not getting enough playtime to generate additional funds. Midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have found it difficult to establish a harmonious working relationship on the field, hence the club’s interest in securing another midfielder.
Mainoo is currently in discussions with Manchester United for a new contract, but no agreement has been finalized yet. It is believed that the Old Trafford club would be willing to sell him for the right price.
