The San Francisco 49ers’ “Quest For Six” begins again on Saturday when they host the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
While they have been an elite team for some time now, there is a belief that this year, they have the best roster they have possessed ever since they last won the Super Bowl during the 1994 season.
The Niners have a clear history of taking care of business in the divisional round — as a tweet from Fox Sports: NFL points out, they’re 19-8 all-time in the divisional round and have won each of their last six games there.

The last time San Francisco lost in the divisional round was all the way back in 2002 when they fell 31-6 to the eventual Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
They have a playoff history with the Packers that dates back to the 1990s when they lost three straight times to Brett Favre and company before finally getting past them in 1998 thanks to Terrell Owens’ last-second touchdown reception.
More recently, the Niners have gotten past the Packers in the last four seasons during which they have faced the Packers in the playoffs: 2012, 2013, 2019, and 2021.
Green Bay has been hot lately thanks to the emergence of first-time starting quarterback Jordan Love and their young group of wide receivers, but their defense is suspect, especially when it comes to defending the run.
Expect the Niners to go with a steady diet of All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey on offense and force the Packers to adjust accordingly.
