The Pittsburgh Steelers have built their legacy thanks to physical and strong players.
They’ve always taken pride in their stout defense and their ability and determination to outhustle and outwork every single opponent they come across.
And while some believe that long-standing tradition is a thing of the past, star DE T.J. Watt has proven to be an old-school Steeler in that regard.
Watt has been one of the best defenders — if not the best defender — in the league for the past four or five years, always rising up to the occasion when his team needs him the most.
To make that evident, PFF showed just how dominant he’s been in one-score games, logging a league-best 11.0 sacks and the second-most QB pressures in the NFL (60) in those scenarios this season alone.

Watt is one of the front runners to win the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award, although he’s likely to finish in second place behind Myles Garrett.
Even so, he’s been one of the main reasons why Mike Tomlin’s team has been able to stay alive in the postseason race so far, often excelling in close games and helping his team flip the field to give their ever-struggling offense another chance to put up points on the scoreboard.
Watt has already made franchise history this season and some believe he has a strong chance of being remembered as the greatest Pittsburgh Steeler of all time, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him fulfill that destiny if he keeps this up.
