The Chicago Bears have a decision to make about their quarterback position.
Most signs point toward them going with either Caleb Williams or Drake Maye in the upcoming NFL Draft, and it would be hard to blame them.
Nonetheless, it’s not like Justin Fields hasn’t been good when given a chance to play this year.
As pointed out by NFL on CBS on Twitter, Fields has actually posted better numbers than some elite QBs in several categories, such as a higher passer rating (91.8) than Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence, a higher TD/INT rate (2.2) than Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, and more rushing yards per game (50.9) than Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson.

Truth be told, Fields hasn’t been put in a position to succeed in Chicago.
Matt Eberflus and his staff tried to turn him into a pocket passer, which is something he’s never been.
While he can –and most definitely should– improve in that regard, he’s always been at his best when rolling out of the pocket and making plays with his feet.
Fields’ inconsistency and injury-proneness are major red flags.
But he’s still quite young and has shown glimpses of great dual-threat play.
He should be available at a reasonable price, and plenty of teams could do a lot worse than pursuing him.
The New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders, at the very least, should at least pick up the phone and inquire about his availability.
